Thammasat Engineer Tops Super AI Season 4

Thammasat University Engineering Student Takes Home Gold Medal in Super AI Engineer Season 4

Phuree Phenhirun,’ a third-year student of the Faculty of Engineering at Thammasat University, enrolled in the Software Engineering program (Soft-En) under the TU-PINE Engineering Innovation Curriculum, has been awarded a gold medal for excellence in artificial intelligence development, along with a cash prize of 50,000 Baht, for participating in the Super AI Engineer Season 4 project organized by the Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand.

Introducing The Super AI Engineer program

Phuree stated that the Super AI Engineer program aims to cultivate artificial intelligence skills for individuals of all genders and ages, free of charge. The program is divided into three levels as follows: Level 1 includes basic training and theoretical knowledge in AI through self-learning (AIAT MOOC) and AI lectures conducted by experts via an online system. During the 1-2 months preceding the selection for Level 2, there will be a weekly AI Hackathon lasting 36 hours, alongside theoretical knowledge assessments, the creation of AI-related video clips for YouTube, and interviews for the purpose of selecting approximately 200 participants for onsite training in Level 2.

Level 2 Advanced AI Training Course (Applied Level) comprises a one-month onsite workshop and a one-month online component. Each day features lectures delivered by experts from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Additionally, every week, participants will receive real-world challenges from various companies and organizations to engage in a Hackathon format. Participants will be divided into six teams, with Hackathons conducted at the team level, within subgroups, and individually. This structure fosters mutual assistance and collaborative learning. At the conclusion of Level 2, there will be an onsite examination encompassing theoretical assessments and a Final Hackathon, wherein each participant is required to complete approximately five to six individual Hackathons within a 24-hour timeframe for consideration in the final award selection.

AI in Action

Level 3 involves practical work in artificial intelligence within public and private organizations for at least two months. Trainees must present individual projects to a committee, showcasing their AI knowledge gained from these collaborations. Prior to each Hackathon, lectures by experts will cover relevant topics, combining theoretical knowledge with practical coding exercises. Participants will also engage in self-study and peer collaboration, with guidance from resident instructors and possible external experts. Learning from group members with specialized skills is encouraged. Additionally, Generative AI tools will be utilized for information retrieval, clarifying misunderstandings, debugging, and generating synthetic datasets for Hackathon challenges.

Academic Excellence

Phuri has also received the First-Class Academic Achievement Award for the academic year 2023 and is a recipient of the full scholarship for the promotion of research, internationalization, and education from the Faculty of Engineering at Thammasat University.
