UTM Alumna Siti Fatimah Inspires Physics Students at Career Forum

Siti Fatimah Abd Rahman, an executive at PETRONAS and an alumna of the Physics Department at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), addressed undergraduate students at the “Internship Insights: Navigating Your Career Journey” program held on October 26, 2024. The event, aimed at first- and third-year physics students, provided insights into her professional journey and the industry.

Professional Contributions and Qualifications

Since her employment at PETRONAS in 2014, Siti Fatimah has made significant contributions to Malaysia’s oil, gas, and energy sector. She holds a LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt certification, which highlights her commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Employer Expectations for Graduates

In her presentation, Siti Fatimah emphasized the qualities that employers seek in graduates, including adaptability, communication skills, and critical thinking. She noted that today’s industries require graduates to possess not only technical expertise but also the ability to collaborate and develop innovative solutions to complex challenges. She stated, “Employers look for graduates who can think critically, communicate effectively, and tackle challenges with a focus on solutions.”
