Excellence Recognized at the 4th Wonik Next-Generation Engineering Awards

KAIST Ph.D. candidates Yehhyun Jo (Electrical Engineering) and Seokjoo Cho (Mechanical Engineering) received Excellence Awards at the 4th Wonik Next-Generation Engineering Award, hosted by the National Academy of Engineering of Korea. The ceremony took place on March 10 at the Grand Walkerhill Seoul Hotel in Seoul.

Yehhyun Jo was recognized for developing a system integrating ultrasound neuromodulation, MEMS, and biosignal measurement technology, enabling precise modulation and observation of brain functions. A leading researcher in ultrasound brain stimulation in Korea, Yehhyun has published six first-author SCI(E)-indexed papers, advancing next-generation neuroengineering.

Seokjoo Cho was honored for his work on a wireless multi-modal sensing system using nano- and micro-fabrication processes for managing chronic wounds and metabolic diseases. He has published 25 SCI(E)-indexed papers, driving innovation in healthcare sensor platforms.

Both recipients expressed gratitude, emphasizing the collaborative efforts behind their research and committing to advancing engineering technologies that deliver real-world clinical and societal impact. The award recognizes creative and ambitious engineering students contributing to materials, components, and equipment sectors in Korea.
