KKUVolts Engages in MIT ASEAN Conference, Highlighting Energy Storage’s Importance in ASEAN Power Systems

Khon Kaen University’s New Generation Battery and Energy Factory (KKUVolts) participated in the international conference titled “Powering Southeast Asia through 2050: Building a Sustainable and Energy-Resilient ASEAN,” organized by the MIT Management ASEAN Office. The conference attracted over 400 attendees, including senior executives, policymakers, investors, and experts across various sectors such as energy, climate, and sustainability.
Panel Discussion on Energy Transition
During the conference, Associate Professor Nonglak Meethong, Ph.D., served as a panelist in a session dedicated to “Game Changers for Energy Transition and Resilience.” The discussion examined the design of future energy systems in the ASEAN region, considering factors such as climate change, grid instability, and the necessity for long-term energy security. Meethong underscored the importance of developing comprehensive energy systems that are tailored to local needs, highlighting Energy Storage Systems (ESS) as vital elements of energy infrastructure that contribute to the stability and resilience of clean energy sources.
Showcase of Battery Technologies
KKUVolts was also featured in the MIT Alumni Showcase, where it presented advancements in battery technologies and new-generation energy systems. This exhibit opened avenues for dialogue among participants regarding potential collaborations aimed at enhancing clean energy initiatives within the region.

Overall, KKUVolts’ participation in the MIT ASEAN Conference underscores its developing role as a center for knowledge and innovation in energy storage and clean energy systems, aligning with ASEAN’s goals for energy sustainability and resilience.
