Khon Kaen University Economics Faculty Hosts Meeting of Eight Economic Organizations to Promote Sustainable Local Development

On December 24, 2025, the Faculty of Economics at Khon Kaen University convened the inaugural meeting of the “Khon Kaen Eight Economic Organisations” in Meeting Room E201. The event included participation from Mr. Yutthaphon Pirunsarn, Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen Province, as well as various executives, faculty members, staff, and network partners associated with the Faculty.
Objective of the Meeting
The primary objective of the meeting was to facilitate exchanges of ideas and develop concrete strategies for enhancing the economy of Khon Kaen Province. Emphasis was placed on building relationships and mutual learning among participating organizations, which is anticipated to yield future collaborations and integrated efforts.
Participating Organizations
Representatives from eight significant economic organizations in Khon Kaen Province participated, including the Bank of Thailand Northeastern Region Office, the Khon Kaen Chamber of Commerce, the Khon Kaen Federation of Industry, the Khon Kaen Tourism and MICE Association, the Khon Kaen Thai SME Promotion Association, the Khon Kaen MBA Alumni Association, the Khon Kaen Banking Club, as well as representatives from the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy at Khon Kaen University. This assembly marked the commencement of cooperation under the “Khon Kaen Eight Economic Organisations” initiative, symbolizing shared dedication among the involved partners.

Associate Professor Suthin Wianwiwat, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, noted that the meeting served as a platform for generating cooperative momentum aimed at systematically advancing the local economy. He confirmed the Faculty’s willingness to provide academic resources to support four key priorities: City Branding, Wellness Hub, Smart City, and International City.

The meeting reached a consensus on the necessity for ongoing collaboration and the monitoring of progress on essential issues to improve Khon Kaen’s economic development. Discussions also highlighted the need for structured operational guidelines to achieve effective and measurable outcomes across all initiatives.
Upcoming Events and Enhancements
Looking ahead, a subsequent meeting is scheduled for January 2026, where the Faculty of Economics will once again host the event. Enhancements such as the introduction of a Padlet system for idea and proposal exchanges are planned for this future gathering. Additionally, participants engaged in a year-end networking event to exchange souvenirs and strengthen relationships within the network.
