Xi’an Jiaotong University: Celebrating the 2025 Winter Graduate Ceremony

Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held its 2025 Winter Graduate Commencement on December 26, 2025, at its campus in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, Northwest China. The ceremony recognized a total of 1,884 graduates.

Vice President’s Address

Vice President Yan Junjie addressed the attendees, discussing the awarding of degrees and the career opportunities available to graduates. Following evaluations conducted on September 24 and December 17, the university awarded 967 doctoral degrees and 917 master’s degrees. Graduates are anticipated to pursue careers across various sectors, including prestigious institutions, the medical and health fields, Fortune 500 companies, state-owned enterprises, research organizations, and government agencies.

Encouragement for Excellence

In his speech, Yan encouraged graduates to align their personal goals with national aspirations, emphasizing the importance of striving for excellence and contributing to China’s national development.

Student Representative’s Speech

Wu Sifan, a graduate from the Department of Telecommunications, spoke on behalf of the student body, highlighting the value of their education in bridging the gap between scientific research and national needs. Wu noted that graduation symbolizes a transition for graduates as they seek to apply their knowledge toward contributing to national advancement.

President’s Congratulations

President Zhang Liqun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, offered congratulations to the graduates and expressed gratitude to faculty members, families, and friends for their support. He highlighted the university’s recent achievements in talent development, academic progress, technological advancements, and the integration of education with industry, attributing these successes to the collective commitment of the university community.

Final Words of Encouragement

Zhang encouraged graduates to retain the ideals and enthusiasm cultivated during their studies, pursuing their interests passionately and taking responsibility for their roles in strengthening and rejuvenating the nation.
