Xi’an Jiaotong University Engages in Second China-Uzbekistan University Cooperation Forum
Overview of the Forum
Bie Zhaohong, executive vice president of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), led a delegation at the Second China-Uzbekistan University Cooperation Forum, which took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The event was attended by the Ministers of Education from both China and Uzbekistan, and during this forum, a cooperation framework agreement was signed between XJTU and New Uzbekistan University.
Keynote Address
In a keynote speech, Bie outlined XJTU’s dedication to the integration of industry and education and emphasized the importance of collaboration between scientific research and education. She noted that the university has established 248 joint research and development centers in partnership with over 200 enterprises, contributing to technological advancements in sectors such as electric power, energy, high-end manufacturing, and new materials.
Suggestions for Educational Collaboration
Bie also proposed several suggestions aimed at strengthening educational collaboration between China and Uzbekistan. She reiterated XJTU’s commitment to partnering with Uzbek universities to enhance talent development, scientific research, and digital education, with the objective of fostering a resilient China-Uzbekistan Community with a Shared Future.
Roundtable Discussion
The forum included a roundtable discussion titled “China-Uzbekistan Education Cooperation under the ‘Belt and Road’ Framework and the Integrated Development of China-Central Asia Education.” Participants, including Bie and other attendees, discussed potential future collaborations in higher education, advocating for the involvement of various Uzbek universities in the creation of the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization Higher Education Cooperation Center.
Delegation Visit to the Chinese Embassy
Additionally, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Uzbekistan, where they engaged in discussions regarding the ongoing educational cooperation between China and Uzbekistan with Wang Jiwei, the charge d’affaires ad interim of the Embassy.
