MSU Sarathnic Fest 2025: Celebrating Diversity and Sustainable Development at Management and Science University

Management and Science University (MSU) hosted the MSU Sarathnic Fest 2.0 as part of MSU MyDay 2025, with events commencing on August 23 in Kuching. The launch of MSU MyDay 2025 occurred on August 21 at the main campus in Shah Alam, attracting over 2,000 staff and students. This month-long celebration aligned with Malaysia’s Independence Day.
Opening Ceremony
Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, President and Founder of MSU, and Vice Chancellor Professor Puan Sri Dato’ Dr. Junainah Abd Hamid officiated at the opening ceremony. This year’s Sarathnic Fest emphasized Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals), reflecting MSU’s commitment to promoting arts, culture, and community engagement for inclusive and sustainable development.
Festival Activities
The festival ran from July 13 to August 23 and included ten main activities, such as “MSU Tradition in Transition – Keringkam & The Future of Creative Business” and “MSU MY Theatre – Keringkam Threads of Time 2025.” Events on August 22 featured “MSU My Dialogue – Youth, Unity & The Future of Malaysia,” aimed at discussing cultural diversity and national unity. The “MSU My Culture and Art Education Booth 2025” showcased traditional attire, heritage food, and folk games, while the “MSU My Kenyalang Bazar 2025” offered traditional foods and local handicrafts.
Competitions and Workshops
Activities on August 23 included the MSU My Choral Speaking Competition, the MSU My Creative Dance Competition, and a first-aid workshop, held in collaboration with Kuching’s Civil Defence Department. The National Kidney Foundation also partnered with MSU Sarawak to provide free health screenings for attendees.
Closing Ceremony
The festival concluded with “MSU My Ritma Tari,” featuring performances by 300 students showcasing a variety of multicultural dances. The event culminated in a performance by Ramles Walter.
Competition Highlights
In the MSU My Choral Speaking Competition, Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School Petra Jaya secured first place, followed by MRSM Kuching and SMK Taee. SMK Muara Tuang won the MSU My Creative Dance Competition, while Sarawak, Jawa, and India earned the top three spots in the MSU My Culture and Art Education Booth competition, with Jawa recognized as the Most Popular Booth.
