“KKU Prompt Battle 2025: Final Round of AI Creative Competition Scheduled for July 15”

Khon Kaen University (KKU) will host the final round of the “KKU Prompt Battle 2025” on July 15, 2025. This competition focuses on prompt writing for image and video generation using Generative AI. The qualifying round occurred on July 4, 2025, at the Witthayawiphas 1 Conference Room within the Faculty of Science at KKU.

Opening Ceremony

The event began with an opening ceremony led by Assoc. Prof. Denpong Soodphakdee, Ph.D., Vice President for Education and Digital. Attendees included Assoc. Prof. Anucha Somabut, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for Education; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wattana Pattanagul, Director of the Learning and Teaching Innovation Center; and Prof. Wanida Kanarkard, Vice Dean for Research, Innovation, and International Affairs of the Faculty of Engineering. The competition garnered participation from over 150 students.

Competition Goals

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wattana Pattanagul highlighted the competition’s goal of enhancing students’ knowledge and skills in Generative AI, positioning them to succeed in a digitizing workforce. The initiative represents KKU’s commitment to prepare graduates for an evolving job market.

Potential of Generative AI

During the opening address, Assoc. Prof. Denpong Soodphakdee noted the potential of Generative AI to create new opportunities in content design and production. He encouraged participants to approach technology responsibly, which is essential for their readiness in the digital landscape.

Special Lecture

A special lecture was conducted prior to the qualifying round, presented by Prof. Wanida Kanarkard, who shared professional techniques for AI-driven image and video generation to inspire the contestants.

Qualifying Round

The qualifying round showcased robust engagement from students across various academic years, with a judging panel made up of experts from the fields of science, technology, and the arts. Ten finalist teams were selected to proceed to the final round.

Contestant Insights

Among the contestants, Ms. Suthinan Lamlong, a third-year student from the College of Computing, shared her motivation for participating. She expressed interest in exploring video creation with Generative AI, influenced by the competition announcement on social media. She noted that the workshops provided valuable insights into writing effective prompts, including aspects such as setting scenes and camera angles, which clarified her creative process.

Finalist Project

Ms. Suthinan and her teammate, Ms. Patthinyaporn Kaenchan, developed a video envisioning Khon Kaen University’s future a century from now, which included holographic renderings of significant locations such as the College of Computing and Srinagarind Hospital.

Commitment to Digital Literacy

The KKU Prompt Battle 2025 highlights the university’s commitment to promoting digital literacy and the importance of lifelong learning in the era of artificial intelligence. The finals are slated for July 15, 2025.
