MMU Partners with AIAC to Enhance Alternative Dispute Resolution Education

Multimedia University (MMU) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the university’s Cyberjaya campus on May 8, 2025.

Signing Ceremony Details

The MoU was signed by MMU President, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, and AIAC Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Almalena Sharmila Johan Thambu. The signing ceremony included notable attendees, such as MMU Chancellor, Tun Zaki Tun Azmi, a former Chief Justice of Malaysia, Dato’ Mary Lim Thiam Suan, Director of AIAC, and Dr. Hasbollah Mat Saad, Dean of the Faculty of Law, among faculty members and officials from AIAC.

Goals of the Partnership

This partnership aims to enhance the academic and professional landscape of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Malaysia and the surrounding region, encompassing areas such as arbitration, mediation, adjudication, and domain name dispute resolution. The MoU represents a collaborative effort to advance education, research, and practice in the field of ADR.

Collaboration Initiatives

Under the terms of this agreement, MMU and AIAC will collaborate to develop academic programs, organize seminars, conferences, and forums, and engage in joint research initiatives and publications. The partnership will also facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise while complying with national data protection laws and regulatory frameworks.

Awareness and Adoption of ADR

Furthermore, the MoU intends to increase awareness and promote the adoption of ADR mechanisms among legal practitioners and various industries. The collaboration is expected to enhance the legal infrastructure, support cost-effective and efficient dispute resolution, and contribute to regional economic stability.
