AGE UNAIR and CityUHK Information Session on International Scholarships for Students

Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) conducted an international scholarship information session on April 29, 2025, at Chairil Anwar Hall, located within the Faculty of Humanities at Universitas Airlangga. This event featured City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) as the principal presenter and partner institution.

Purpose of the Session

The session aimed to provide Universitas Airlangga students with information on academic programs, scholarship opportunities, and cultural experiences available at CityUHK, recognized as one of Asia’s leading universities. Attendees were encouraged to explore the possibility of pursuing graduate studies at CityUHK.

Presentation by Professor Sylvia Kwok Lai

Professor Sylvia Kwok Lai, Associate Dean of the Chow Yeung Ching School of Graduate Studies at CityUHK, outlined various educational opportunities for prospective students during her presentation. She noted Hong Kong’s strategic geographic position and its status as a significant center for higher education, remarking that the region’s economic performance aligns with that of other major global cities.

Collaborations with Prestigious Institutions

Professor Kwok highlighted the collaborations between CityUHK and several prestigious universities, including Harvard University and the University of Chicago in the United States, the University of Oxford in Europe, and the National University of Singapore in Asia.

Global University Rankings

According to the QS World University Rankings 2025, CityUHK is ranked 62nd globally and 10th in Asia, underscoring its commitment to innovation and research. The institution’s School of Creative Media has expanded its international presence through research partnerships and exchange programs, collaborating with 17 notable art schools across ten countries and regions.

Focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Professor Kwok remarked on the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion at the School of Creative Media, asserting that these values form the foundation of the institution’s strengths. She emphasized that the interdisciplinary and intercultural engagement creates a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

Connecting Students to Opportunities

The event sought to connect Universitas Airlangga students with essential information regarding advanced studies and to inspire them to consider CityUHK as a viable option for their academic pursuits.
