“Empowering Future Nurses: IMU and Kwang Hua Private High School Host Interactive Workshop”

On March 15, 2025, the Nursing Division of International Medical University (IMU) collaborated with the Counselling Department of Kwang Hua Private High School to conduct a hands-on workshop designed to encourage Form 5 and Form 6 students to explore careers in nursing. The workshop, titled “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economies,” aimed to showcase the diverse and significant opportunities within the nursing profession.
Workshop Overview
The event began with a presentation titled “Discover Nursing: Your Journey Starts Here,” which provided an overview of IMU’s four-year Bachelor of Nursing program. Dr. Lim Swee Geok, Head of the Nursing Division, outlined key elements of the program, including the curriculum, clinical placements, sponsorship opportunities, and potential career paths in nursing on a global scale.
Panel Discussion: Ask a Nurse
Following this presentation, a panel discussion named “Ask a Nurse” was moderated by Goh Lay Khim. Final-year nursing students participated in the discussion, sharing their personal experiences and motivations for pursuing a nursing career. The interactive format allowed students to pose questions that delved into various aspects of the profession, such as work-life balance and strategies for managing workplace challenges.
Practical Skills Stations
Practical stations were also part of the workshop, where participants could practice essential healthcare skills, including basic first aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and infection prevention protocols.
Feedback and Impact
Feedback from attendees reflected a generally positive outlook, with many participants reporting an increased appreciation for the nursing profession. Several expressed interest in considering nursing as a viable career option, viewing the workshop as a valuable educational experience.

The partnership between IMU and Kwang Hua Private High School is intended to promote early engagement in the nursing field, aiming to help students understand nursing as a critical and evolving sector within healthcare and society.
