Chula University Hosts International Fieldwork Program for Tohoku and Tsinghua Students in Education & Development

Chulalongkorn University has organized an International Education and Development Fieldwork program involving 14 undergraduate and graduate students from Tohoku University in Japan and Tsinghua University in China. This initiative, coordinated by the Development Education Section within the Department of Educational Policy, Management, and Leadership, aims to provide insights into the various education systems in Thailand and their connections to development and sustainability.

Program Supervision and Ranking

The program is supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jing Liu from Tohoku University. Both participating institutions are recognized in the QS World University Rankings 2025, ranked 107th and 20th, respectively.

Fieldwork Activities

The fieldwork program includes a variety of activities intended to explore the complexities of formal, non-formal, and informal education in Thailand. Students attended lectures, collaborated with peers from Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Education, and engaged in visits to multiple educational institutions, including Chulalongkorn University Demonstration Elementary School and the Loose Parts Play Labs, along with other educational initiatives.

Concluding Presentations

The program concludes with presentations from the students, which will address their prospective research topics focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This experience is anticipated to enhance their academic endeavors and broaden their understanding of educational practices on a global scale.
