Student-Athletes Reflect on SEA Games Journey with MMU President

Several student-athletes from Multimedia University (MMU) recently participated in a Meet and Greet session with Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, the university president, to discuss their experiences at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games held in Thailand. The event took place on January 8, 2026, at the Cyberjaya campus and aimed to honor the students’ notable accomplishments during the regional competition.

Achievements of Student-Athletes

Among those recognized was Alang Ariff Aqil Muhammad Ghazalli, a student in the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM), who earned a gold medal in the Archery Compound Men’s Team event. Additionally, Ariana Nur Dania Mohamad Zairi from the Faculty of Management (FOM) secured two silver medals in the Archery Recurve Women’s Team and Recurve Mixed Team competitions.

Aisya Eleesa Erni Firdauz, also representing FCM, shared insights from her participation in cricket, where she achieved a silver medal in the Women’s Cricket (T20) and a bronze in the Women’s Cricket (T10) events. Other attendees included Chua Jia Tien from the Faculty of Law (FOL) and Ruveshwaran Balachandran from FOM.

Contributions to Malaysia’s Medal Tally

Adam Yoong Hanifah, another student from FOM, contributed to Malaysia’s medal tally with a silver in the Slalom Team event. His brother, Aiden Yoong Hanifah, also from FCM, won two medals: a silver in the Slalom Team and a bronze in the Wakesurf Team events at the SEA Games. Although they were unable to attend the session, their achievements were acknowledged.

Opportunities for Discussion and Recognition

The event provided an opportunity for the student-athletes to discuss the challenges they faced during the games while receiving recognition and encouragement from university officials. Other notable attendees included Prof. Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli Yusoff, Vice President of Student Experience and Entrepreneurship Development, and Puan Sri Kusumawati Mohd Daud, Director of Student Lifestyle and Experience, along with various faculty representatives and MMU officials.
