UNAIR Japanese Language and Literature Program Celebrates Japanese Education and Culture at Habatake 2025

The Japanese Language and Literature Program at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) participated in Habatake 2025, an event focused on Japanese education and culture, which took place on February 9, 2025, at SMAN 1 Malang. The event was organized by the Consulate General of Japan in Surabaya to address the increasing interest in Japanese language and culture among Indonesian youth.

Event Activities

Habatake 2025 included various activities such as seminars, educational booths, and competitions designed to evaluate participants’ understanding of Japanese language and culture. Attendees comprised high school students from East Java, university programs in Japanese literature, and representatives from various Japanese educational institutions.

UNAIR’s program featured an interactive booth that showcased traditional Japanese arts, including shodō (calligraphy) and tanzaku (paper wishes hung on bamboo trees). This booth attracted considerable interest from visitors who wanted to engage directly with these cultural practices.

Essay Competition Success

Moreover, UNAIR students demonstrated their skills in a Japanese-language essay competition, achieving notable results. Kanessa Ade Fahrani secured first place, while Rifqi Namiroh Ash Sholihah earned second place, reflecting the educational strengths of UNAIR’s Japanese Language and Literature Program.

Cultural Exchange and Future Impact

In addition to its educational goals, Habatake 2025 served as a platform for cultural exchange between Indonesia and Japan, promoting greater appreciation for Japanese traditions and providing attendees with enriching learning experiences. The event is anticipated to continue fostering cross-cultural interactions and strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
