UNAIR Achieves Ten Medals at the 37th PIMNAS: A Historic Success

The 37th National Student Science Week (PIMNAS) concluded with a closing ceremony held at the Airlangga Convention Center on the MERR-C campus of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) on October 18, 2024. This event highlighted numerous achievements, particularly commending the contestants, including those from UNAIR.

UNAIR’s Performance

As the host institution, UNAIR demonstrated strong performance by securing a total of ten medals across various categories. The university received two gold medals in the poster competition for the PKM-KC (Creative Work) and PKM-GFT (Written Futuristic Ideas) categories, marking a first-time victory in the PKM-KC category.

Featured Project: AUVEST

Muhammad Adam Wildan, leader of the PKM-KC team that won a gold medal, highlighted the significance of their project, AUVEST, a cooling vest designed for laborers. Wildan stated that this victory represents a groundbreaking milestone for UNAIR in the PKM-KC category.

Additional Achievements

UNAIR also achieved a silver medal in the PKM-RE (Exact Science Research) category, led by Sirojuddin Kholil Muhammad. In addition to this, the university secured seven medals in the presentation category, comprising one gold, two silver, and four bronze.

Recognition of Talented Students

Moreover, two UNAIR students, Mohammad Suma Firman Romadhoni and Fany Zumrotul Faizah, were recognized as Talented Students by the Indonesian Talent Development Agency (BPTI) for their notable research potential. Fany Zumrotul Faizah commented on the recognition, attributing her success to thorough preparation that included public speaking and engaging in Q&A sessions, which bolstered her confidence during adjudications.

Looking Ahead

With these achievements, UNAIR ranks seventh among universities regarding the overall medal tally at PIMNAS, establishing a strong foundation for future competitions, including the forthcoming 38th PIMNAS scheduled for 2025.
