National University of Singapore (NUS) Explores Student Learning Visit to Colombo

The University of Colombo welcomed Professor Sadaf Ansari, Director of Studies at Ridge View Residential College, National University of Singapore (NUS), on 20 July 2026 to discuss opportunities for future academic collaboration. NUS, widely recognised as one of the world’s leading universities, is consistently ranked among the top institutions globally.
During the visit, Professor Ansari met with Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, to explore a proposed educational initiative involving an undergraduate student learning visit to Colombo in 2027. The planned programme aims to provide students with immersive, real-world learning experiences focused on sustainability challenges and outdoor education.
The proposed collaboration seeks to create meaningful opportunities for students from both universities to exchange ideas, broaden their global perspectives, and engage in collaborative learning on issues of shared importance. Through interactive activities and experiential learning, participants would gain valuable insights into sustainability practices while strengthening cross-cultural understanding.
The discussions also explored broader areas for future cooperation, including sustainability education, innovative teaching approaches, entrepreneurship, and international academic engagement. Dr Iroja Caldera, Director of the International Office at the University of Colombo, participated in the meeting and highlighted the importance of expanding global partnerships. The University of Colombo expressed its commitment to advancing the proposed initiative, with the International Office coordinating the next steps toward its implementation.
