Al Ain University Hosts the 4th International Postgraduate Symposium on Health and Biomedical Sciences

Al Ain University, in collaboration with Monash University Malaysia, hosted the Fourth International Postgraduate Symposium on Health and Biomedical Sciences on January 29, 2026. The symposium operated under the theme “Empowering Postgraduate Research and Innovation through International Collaboration,” drawing participation from academic and research representatives across various institutions in the UAE and internationally.
Global Participation
The event attracted representatives from more than 40 universities spanning 15 countries, including the UAE, Malaysia, China, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Singapore, Pakistan, and India. This level of participation reinforces Al Ain University’s role as a platform for scientific exchange and cross-border research collaboration.
Research and Knowledge Sharing
The symposium emphasized the significance of high-quality research and knowledge sharing among early-career researchers and global academic institutions. A total of 220 research abstracts were submitted by postgraduate and undergraduate students, with presentations delivered through both oral sessions and scientific posters, highlighting the symposium’s status as a prominent forum for scientific discussion.
Key Research Areas
Research topics presented during the event encompassed seven key areas: Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice; Pharmacology and Molecular Therapeutics; Drug Design and Discovery; Pharmaceutical Technology and Drug Delivery Systems; Biomedical Sciences; Nutrition and Food Science; and Artificial Intelligence in Health Sciences.
Keynote Lectures
Keynote lectures were a central feature of the symposium, including a presentation by Dr. Mahendran Sekar from Monash University Malaysia, who spoke on “Integrating Artificial Intelligence across Pharmaceutical Sciences: Transforming Education, Research, and Practice.” This lecture focused on the contribution of advanced technologies to enhancing education and research in health sciences.
Panel Discussion
A panel discussion also took place, addressing scholarship opportunities and national and international academic pathways for Master’s, PhD, and postdoctoral programs. Representatives from prominent regional and international universities participated, engaging in discussions about academic mobility, research collaboration, and opportunities for students and researchers.
Scientific Program Highlights
The scientific program encompassed two parallel oral presentation sessions featuring 66 research presentations, alongside a Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition with 10 contestants. An interactive workshop titled “The 10×10 Strategy for Using Artificial Intelligence in Research and Scientific Writing” was held to discuss the responsible utilization of AI tools aimed at improving research quality and academic productivity.

The symposium concluded with the recognition of winners in various categories for oral presentations and scientific posters, highlighting the academic achievements and high standards exhibited by the studies presented.
