International University Seminar on Implementing Internal Quality Assurance in Higher Education Institutions

On October 23, the International University, a member of Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City, conducted a seminar entitled “Experiences in Implementing Internal Quality Assurance Systems in Higher Education Institutions.” The seminar aimed to enhance the professional capacity of university staff, lecturers, and specialists by sharing knowledge and practical experiences in the field of educational quality assurance.
Event Highlights
The event featured presentations from distinguished speakers, including Dr. Võ Thị Tuyết Giang, Deputy Head of the Testing and Quality Assurance Office at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, and Dr. Nguyễn Huy Phúc, Head of the Testing and Quality Assurance Office at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry. Participants included AUN-QA team leaders, assessors, training experts, and representatives from the Center for Educational Testing and Quality Assessment, as well as member universities from VNU-HCM.
Opening Remarks
The seminar commenced with remarks from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đinh Đức Anh Vũ, Vice President of International University, who highlighted the importance of a robust Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) system. He underscored that effective quality assurance is crucial for sustainable development and for improving the quality of education, research, community service, and international integration.
Presentations on Quality Assurance
Presentations at the seminar covered various aspects of quality assurance systems. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vòng Bính Long discussed the implementation of IQA at International University, while Dr. Võ Thị Tuyết Giang presented on the internal quality assurance system model utilized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.
Dr. Nguyễn Huy Phúc, also serving as an AUN-QA Chief Assessor and Team Leader, shared experiences related to the AUN-QA approach in quality assurance systems. His session provided participants with insights that could be applied in their respective institutions.
Discussion Segment
A discussion segment allowed participants to exchange insights and practical experiences. Topics included information systems for quality assurance, measuring learning outcomes, internal assessment activities, stakeholder feedback collection, quality improvement processes, inter-departmental coordination, and the promotion of a quality culture within institutions.

In closing, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vòng Bính Long expressed gratitude for the contributions of speakers and participants. He noted that the workshop was part of a broader set of initiatives aimed at fulfilling objectives set by the Ministry of Education and Training regarding the development of internal quality assurance systems and the establishment of a quality culture in higher education.
