Central Mindanao University Establishes Strategic Partnership with Indonesia’s Leading Institution

Central Mindanao University (CMU) has initiated a strategic partnership with Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), a well-regarded institution in Indonesia. This partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on August 6, 2025.
MOU Signing Ceremony
The MOU was signed by Dr. Rolito G. Eballe, President of CMU, and Prof. Dr. Ova Emilia, Rector of UGM, during a ceremony attended by academic leaders and stakeholders from both universities. The agreement aims to enhance academic cooperation and collaborative research efforts in alignment with their Mutual Recognition Initiative (MRI) frameworks.
Objectives of the Partnership
The partnership is designed to promote growth and internationalization through various academic and research initiatives. Proposed activities include Faculty and Staff Fellowship Exchanges, Student Exchange Programs, Joint International Seminars and Conferences, Collaborative Research and Publications, Joint Degree Programs, and Curriculum Development. Furthermore, the collaboration places importance on Quality Assurance, sharing of facilities, and community service projects.
Initial Areas for Collaboration
Initial areas for collaboration have been outlined, focusing on forestry, agriculture, and human ecology. Specific projects are being developed by CMU experts, targeting climate-resilient forest systems, sustainable farming technologies, and nutrition-based interventions.
Future Initiatives
In a statement, President Eballe emphasized the importance of translating partnership agreements into actionable projects and called for early initiatives to sustain a long-term working relationship. Following the MOU signing, the CMU delegation plans to examine UGM’s facilities to identify potential joint activities.
