Dali Tsung-Dao Lee Center for Sciences and Arts Inaugurated at Pacific Care Home Dali

On July 6, 2025, the Dali Tsung-Dao Lee Center for Sciences and Arts was inaugurated at the Pacific Care Home Dali International Holiday Retirement Community. The ceremony was conducted by Academician Ding Hong, Deputy Director of the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. This center was established in collaboration with the Cang-Er Center for Scientific and Artistic Exchange in Dali to serve as a platform for interdisciplinary innovation that integrates elements of science, art, and nature, in line with the vision of Nobel Laureate Tsung-Dao Lee.
Highlights of the Inauguration
The inauguration featured speakers from various distinguished backgrounds, including Academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and representatives from multiple universities. The center, which has been designed around the themes of “Science, Art, and Nature,” draws inspiration from notable global institutions, such as the Aspen Center for Physics. It includes 30 independent workspaces to facilitate research and artistic residency programs and anticipates hosting approximately 20 international academic and artistic events each year.
Community Engagement and Events
In addition to academic pursuits, the center aims to engage the local community through public science lectures and art exhibitions in partnership with local universities and media organizations. Prior to the opening of the center, the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute co-hosted the International Conference on Majorana Zero Modes in Dali, an event that received positive feedback and underscored the strategic choice of location. A subsequent symposium, titled “The Beauty of Science and Art,” focused on the intersections of these two fields.
Vision for the Future
Academician Ding Hong highlighted the center’s objective to foster creativity and interdisciplinary collaboration, noting that Dali’s natural landscape and cultural richness complement the mission of integrating science, art, and nature. The Dali Tsung-Dao Lee Center for Sciences and Arts aspires to promote global collaboration among scholars and institutions to advance progressive academic and artistic initiatives.
