NISHAAN 2025: Celebrating Diversity and Talent of Students with Disabilities at IIT Delhi
On January 12, 2025, the Office of Accessible Education at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi organized NISHAAN 2025, a cultural event aimed at celebrating the creativity, diversity, and talents of students with disabilities. This initiative provided a platform for participants to showcase their abilities through various cultural expressions, including music, dance, drama, painting, photography, poetry, and essay readings.
Participation and Diversity
Students from multiple colleges in Delhi participated in the event, underscoring its focus on fostering diversity and inclusion within the educational community. The performances featured a variety of acts, from dynamic dance routines to musical performances, engaging the audience throughout the event.
Highlight Performance
A highlight was the performance by the ‘We Are One Dance Group,’ which consisted entirely of artists with locomotor and hearing disabilities, delivering a strong message in support of diversity and inclusion.
Conclusion and Future Plans
The event concluded with expressions of gratitude from faculty advisors associated with the Office of Accessible Education, who acknowledged the audience’s support for the participants’ dedication and passion. The Office of Accessible Education is now preparing for SANGAM 2025, an inclusive sports event planned for March, aimed at further promoting opportunities for students with disabilities.
