BEM KM IPB University Launches Learning Classes to Combat School Dropout Rates
The Student Executive Board (BEM-KM) at IPB University has initiated the Bentang Asa Foundation (BAF) program to support sixth-grade elementary and ninth-grade junior high school students in the nearby communities.
2024 BAF Program Overview
The 2024 BAF program, conducted in Benteng Village, Ciampea District, Bogor Regency, is themed “Changing the Future, Opening Opportunities for the Nation.” This initiative aims to address school dropout rates and increase the likelihood of continued education among participating students.
Educational Activities and Collaboration
Fawwaz Muhammad Faruqy Hidayat, a student representative, indicated that the program will feature various educational activities over a three-month period, including learning classes, experimental classes, creative classes, and outdoor activities. Collaboration with the Perintis Pendidik Nusa Foundation will facilitate connections with the local community.
Participant Contributions
Additionally, participants from the Student Creativity Program for Community Service (PKM-PM) team, referred to as ‘A New Child’, are contributing to the educational experience by equipping students with tools for self-discovery and understanding.
Graduation Ceremony
The program recently marked the graduation of scholarship recipients, known as beswan, in a ceremony attended by their parents, who expressed gratitude for the organizers’ efforts. One parent highlighted the program’s positive influence, remarking on the newfound knowledge their child gained.
Combining Scholarships and Skill Development
The BAF 2024 initiative combines financial scholarships with opportunities for soft skills development, aimed at increasing educational engagement among participants.
