Lingnan University Hosts Nearly 200 Global Education Leaders for ‘Study in Hong Kong’ Conference and International Learning Opportunities

Lingnan University recently hosted nearly 200 leaders in higher education at its Tuen Mun campus on February 27, 2026. This gathering was part of the events linked to the 2026 Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) Conference and Exhibition. Attendees participated in campus tours and interactive exchanges that highlighted the university’s international learning environment and advanced teaching facilities. The event aimed to underscore Hong Kong’s position as an international hub for higher education and to promote the “Study in Hong Kong” initiative, which seeks to attract more non-local students to the region.
Collaboration Opportunities
During the conference, representatives from Lingnan University, including senior management, academic staff, and students, explored potential collaborations with international guests focused on areas such as student exchange programs, research partnerships, and talent recruitment. The university’s president, Professor S. Joe Qin, who also holds the Wai Kee Kau Chair in Data Science, addressed the attendees. He highlighted the university’s efforts to build a distinguished faculty excelling in engineering, artificial intelligence, and data science through the Lingnan-60 Global Talent Recruitment programme, which promotes holistic development and interdisciplinary exchanges among students.
Prominent University Attendance
Notable representatives from many of the world’s top 100 universities were in attendance, including institutions such as Nanyang Technological University, KU Leuven, UC Berkeley, Korea University, and the University of Warwick. The group, led by Professor Bradley R. Barnes, toured campus facilities that showcased cultural diversity, including visits to student residences, providing a glimpse into the experiences of exchange students within the Lingnan community.
Campus Initiatives and Developments
Delegates also explored the new Wu Jieh Yee Lingnan Hub, designed to promote interaction between faculty and students, and observed the construction of the seven-story Lingnan Education Organization Building, which aims to enhance teaching and research facilities, particularly for the School of Data Science.
Student Experiences
During the event, students shared their experiences and insights gained from Lingnan’s programs, reflecting the university’s commitment to supporting the growth and learning of its community. The conference served as a platform to reaffirm Hong Kong’s status as a leading destination for international education.
About the APAIE Conference
The APAIE Conference and Exhibition, recognized as one of the premier international education conferences, is sponsored this year by the eight universities in Hong Kong, with funding from the University Grants Committee. The theme for this year’s conference, “Asia-Pacific Partnerships for the Global Good,” aims to bring together over 3,000 higher education leaders and experts from more than 70 countries to discuss pressing issues and emerging trends in education.
