India-Malaysia University Partnership to Boost Research and Skills Development

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University (DDUGU) has entered into a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SEGi University in Malaysia, aimed at fostering academic and research collaboration between institutions in India and Malaysia. The partnership seeks to enhance the quality of education and skills development, while providing opportunities for global exposure to students and faculty of both universities.

Key Initiatives of the Agreement

The agreement encompasses initiatives such as student and faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, and the creation of specialized academic courses. The collaboration will primarily focus on disciplines including science, humanities, and legal studies.

Mentoring Programs for Scholars

A notable component of the partnership involves mentoring postgraduate and doctoral scholars, offering emerging researchers opportunities for international guidance and connections to global research networks. The initiative also plans to organize joint conferences, seminars, and workshops to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaborative academic discussions across borders.

Academic and Research Facilitation

As part of the arrangement, SEGi University will serve as an academic and research facilitation center in Malaysia for DDUGU, allowing its students and researchers access to connections with institutions and experts throughout Southeast Asia.

Signing and Provisions of the MoU

The MoU was signed by DDUGU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Poonam Tandon, during the QS Summit in Goa, highlighting the university’s commitment to international engagement. The agreement includes provisions regarding intellectual property rights, joint publications, confidentiality, and governance, aimed at ensuring effective collaboration between the two institutions.

Potential for Innovation and Cultural Exchange

The partnership is viewed as having the potential to create innovative pathways for entrepreneurship and skill-based learning, with the intent of improving employability for students. It is expected to attract funded research projects and encourage cultural exchange, thereby enhancing DDUGU’s international presence and preparing students for careers in the global job market.
