Chulalongkorn University Strengthens China-Thailand Education Partnerships with Jiangxi Province under Belt and Road Initiative

On January 8, 2026, a delegation from Chulalongkorn University visited the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education in China to explore opportunities for educational collaboration and academic exchanges. The delegation was led by President Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat and included key representatives from Jiangxi’s education sector, such as Mr. Wu Zuowen and Mr. Yang Lewen.

Symposium Highlights

During the symposium, Mr. Wu highlighted the historical relationships between China and Thailand, expressing a commitment to strengthen educational partnerships through initiatives related to the Belt and Road Initiative. He indicated that Jiangxi is dedicated to facilitating collaborations that would enable joint student development, collaborative research, and exchanges between faculty and students, thereby enhancing academic growth for youth in both regions.

Chulalongkorn University’s Proposal

Professor Dr. Wilert presented Chulalongkorn University’s academic offerings and proposed the establishment of a “China Pathway Program” in conjunction with educational institutions in Jiangxi. He emphasized potential partnership areas, including the development of joint and dual-degree programs, student mobility initiatives, cultural exchanges, and vocational training aimed at fostering interdisciplinary skills and cross-cultural competencies.

Positive Response from Jiangxi Officials

Mr. Yang responded positively to these collaborative suggestions, noting their compatibility with Jiangxi’s educational strategy to promote international cooperation. He assured that the International Cooperation and Teacher Development Center would aid in creating effective platforms for sustainable exchanges between higher education institutions in both regions.
