MMU’s International e-Student Mobility Programme: Empowering Digital Minds Through Cross-Cultural Collaboration

Multimedia University (MMU) recently hosted a 15-day International e-Student Mobility Programme, organized by its Faculty of Business (FOB), from December 3 to 17, 2025. The programme, themed “Empowering Digital Minds Through Cross-Cultural Collaboration,” saw the participation of 305 students from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand, reflecting the university’s focus on internationalization and digital education.
Collaboration with Regional Institutions
This initiative involved collaboration with institutions such as Universitas Mercu Buana and Universitas Pakuan from Indonesia, along with Silpakorn University from Thailand. The programme was designed to foster cross-border interaction and facilitate meaningful exchanges among students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds.
Opening Ceremony Highlights
The event commenced with an opening ceremony that featured remarks from deans of the participating faculties, including Asst. Prof. Dr. Siti Zakiah Melatu Samsi from MMU, Asst. Prof. Dr. Natthaporn Karnjanapoomi from Silpakorn University, Dr. Towaf Totok Irawan from Universitas Pakuan, and Dr. Melly Ridaryanthi from Universitas Mercu Buana. The ceremony was officiated by Prof. Dr. Wong Eng Kiong, Vice President of Market Exploration, Engagement, and Touchpoint, and included a cultural performance titled Tarian Bhinneka, which highlighted themes of unity and regional collaboration.
Engaging Activities for Participants
Participants engaged in a range of activities, including expert-led webinars, interactive discussions, and collaborative showcases. The webinars covered various topics, such as digital marketing transformation, immersive technologies, user interface design, and ethical challenges in emerging technologies, presented by academics and industry professionals from across Southeast Asia.
Student Showcase Sessions
A notable aspect of the programme was the student showcase sessions, where multinational teams presented projects related to local cultural heritage. This format encouraged creativity, teamwork, and the practical application of digital and intercultural skills.
Closing Ceremony and Recognition
The programme concluded with a closing ceremony that included sharing sessions by students and performances from each partner university, featuring an array of cultural acts, including traditional Malay dances and modern hip-hop. Outstanding contributions from participating groups were recognized for their creativity and collaboration.
