University of Toronto Delegation Visits Beijing Normal University

On December 4, 2025, a delegation from the University of Toronto, led by Linda Johnston, Vice-President and President of the University of Toronto Scarborough, visited Beijing Normal University (BNU). The delegation was welcomed by Chen Xing, Vice-President of BNU, who provided an overview of BNU’s disciplinary structure and highlighted recent developments at its campuses in Beijing and Zhuhai.
Focus on Global Perspectives
During the meeting, Chen emphasized BNU’s focus on enhancing students’ global perspectives. He discussed potential collaborative student development programs with the University of Toronto and expressed an intention to broaden cooperation across various academic disciplines, building upon existing partnerships.
Strengthening Cooperation
Johnston acknowledged the warm welcome at BNU and shared updates regarding the University of Toronto Scarborough. She indicated a desire to strengthen cooperation with BNU, particularly in areas related to personnel and research collaboration across interdisciplinary fields.
Future Collaboration Opportunities
The meeting also included representatives from BNU’s School of Environment and the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation. Participants reviewed recent achievements in environmental collaboration and assessed opportunities for future cooperation, reaching a preliminary consensus on potential next steps.
