PwC Consulting Launches New Office at GIK UGM to Enhance Campus-Industry Collaboration

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Consulting Indonesia has established a new office within the Innovation and Creativity Hub at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta, officially launched on October 21, 2025. The opening of this office represents a strategic move by PwC Consulting to foster collaboration between industry and academic institutions in Indonesia.

Launch Event Details

The launch event occurred at the GIK UGM Student Center and was attended by executives from PwC South-East Asia Consulting, PwC Indonesia, UGM leadership, and students. The presence of the PwC Consulting office in Yogyakarta is expected to create opportunities for students and digital talents in Central Java and nearby areas, providing access to professional training, practical experience, and international exposure.

Significance of Collaboration

UGM Rector Professor Ova Emilia acknowledged the significance of this collaboration, describing it as a tangible example of interaction between academia and industry. Professor Emilia remarked that while discussions on collaboration between universities and industries are common, the establishment of PwC Consulting’s office provides a concrete opportunity for both students and young professionals seeking to advance their careers. She expressed the hope that this partnership will set a standard for future collaborations aimed at nurturing world-class human resources capable of becoming global leaders.

Simon Gealy, CEO of PwC South-East Asia Consulting, emphasized Indonesia’s potential for growth through collaborative efforts across sectors. He noted the large population of the country and expressed the intention of connecting students with industry opportunities through this new office.

Eddy Rintis, Territory Senior Partner of PwC Consulting Indonesia, indicated that the new office aims not only to expand business operations but also to contribute to the educational landscape, reflecting Yogyakarta’s reputation as a center for culture and learning.

The opening event also included a panel discussion titled “Future of Work and Digital Career: Preparing Today for the Jobs of Tomorrow.” The discussion featured insights from various experts, including Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, Vice Rector for Research, Business Development, and Partnerships at UGM, along with other PwC Consulting Indonesia executives. The conversation, moderated by Dela Khurniasari, Director of the Financial Services Strategy and Operations Team, highlighted the necessity of empathy, digital skills, and interdisciplinary collaboration in adapting to changes brought about by artificial intelligence in the workforce.

Ceremonial Opening

The event concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the official opening of the PwC Consulting office at GIK UGM and the commencement of this collaborative venture between Universitas Gadjah Mada and PwC Consulting Indonesia.
