KKU Launches Selection Round for Thailand University Games 2025, Achieving Early Victories for ‘Inthanin Games 2026’

Khon Kaen University (KKU) has commenced the selection round for the 51st Thailand University Games (TUG), referred to as the ‘Pho Lom Tarn Games,’ which began on October 27, 2025. This qualifying event, hosted by North-Eastern University in Khon Kaen Province, is scheduled to run until November 3, 2025. The objective is to identify representative athletes from universities throughout the Northeast for the final competition, the ‘Inthanin Games 2026,’ set to take place at Maejo University in Chiang Mai Province from January 9 to January 19, 2026.
Opening Day Performances
On the opening day of the tournament, KKU athletes exhibited strong performances across several sports. The men’s Sepak Takraw team achieved two victories, winning against Suranaree University of Technology and Loei Rajabhat University with scores of 2–0 in both consecutive matches. In contrast, the men’s basketball team experienced a defeat, losing to Suranaree University of Technology with a score of 61-74.
Success in Volleyball and Futsal
The men’s volleyball team secured a victory over Udon Thani Rajabhat University, winning 3–1. Simultaneously, the women’s futsal team also performed well, defeating Roi Et Rajabhat University with a score of 3–1. However, the men’s futsal team was unable to secure a win against Nakhon Ratchasima College, suffering a loss of 0–2.
Pétanque Progress
In Pétanque, both the men’s and women’s doubles teams from KKU progressed to the final round, showcasing their competitive strengths. The men’s teams, KKU 1 and KKU 2, celebrated victories in the initial rounds, while both women’s teams won their opening playoff matches, ensuring their representation from the Northeastern region in the national finals.
Upcoming Competitions
The competition is set to continue on October 28, with KKU scheduled to compete in various events. This includes a men’s futsal match against Nakhon Phanom University at 09:00, women’s Sepak Takraw doubles against Ubon Ratchathani University at 11:00, and both men’s basketball and women’s volleyball matches against Udon Thani Rajabhat University at 13:30.
