Multimedia University Expands Global Reach at Huawei IASC Roundtable 2025 in China

Multimedia University (MMU) was represented by Ts. Dr. Lee Fong Yee from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI) at the Huawei ICT Academy Support Centre (IASC) Roundtable 2025, which took place in Shanghai, China, in September 2025. This roundtable was part of the larger Huawei Connect 2025 event and included representatives from IASC centers across various countries, including Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Indonesia, Nigeria, Thailand, Singapore, China, and Malaysia.
Event Highlights
The event featured a variety of attendees, including executives from Huawei and industry experts such as Mr. Sun Gang, Director of the ICT Talent Partner Development Department, and Mr. Liu Fei, Vice President of the Kunpeng Domain. The discussions focused on the global strategic development of ICT talent. During the roundtable, Ms. Ekaterina Pushkareva from UNESCO IITE presented UNESCO’s vision for the integration of AI in education, while Mr. Liu Fei discussed advancements in AI ecosystems via the openEuler platform.
Key Discussions and Initiatives
The agenda comprised keynote presentations and practical sessions that explored current trends in digital education. Participants exchanged initiatives aimed at accelerating the development of AI talent and considered enhancements to academic curricula in order to better align with industry needs through Huawei ICT Academies.
MMU’s Achievements
Dr. Lee reported on the accomplishments of MMU’s IASC initiative, which has trained over 800 students, thereby enhancing graduates’ employability and marketability. The incorporation of Huawei courses has resulted in increased research activities and higher student enrollment figures. Looking ahead, MMU intends to strengthen its partnership with Huawei by broadening its course offerings and implementing advanced technologies for improved practical learning experiences.
IASC Award Ceremony
The event concluded with the IASC Award Ceremony, which acknowledged the contributions of various IASC centers in nurturing ICT talent within their respective ecosystems. MMU aims to establish its IASC as a regional hub for ICT development in ASEAN, aligning with Malaysia’s MyDIGITAL agenda to promote economic growth and innovation.
