MMU Lecturer Participates in Prestigious Russian Summer Institute for Young Researchers

Dr. Muhammad Afif Fathullah, a lecturer from the Faculty of Management at Multimedia University (MMU), has been selected as one of 25 participants globally for the Russian Summer Institute Programme for Young Researchers hosted by the Linguistic University of Nizhny Novgorod (LUNN). This program, which was held from July 28 to August 10, was sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
Program Objectives
The initiative aims to enhance the international network of young researchers through collaborative research, joint publication of scientific articles, and engagement in academic and cultural exchanges between Russia and various participating countries. Dr. Afif represented Malaysia as the sole participant, having undergone a competitive selection process based on his academic qualifications, research experience, and teaching background, along with the submission of a motivational video.
Sponsorship and Participants
The sponsorship covered all expenses related to the program, including airfare, accommodation, meals, insurance, and cultural excursions. Participants hailed from various countries, including Korea, South Africa, China, India, Indonesia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Serbia, Moldova, and Kyrgyzstan.
Academic and Cultural Activities
The program featured both academic and cultural activities, encompassing theoretical and practical modules on linguistics, communication, history, digital media, IT management, business, and culture, which were facilitated by experts from LUNN, Innopolis University, Mordovia State University, and Knyagininsky University. The program concluded with the presentation of proposals for international research collaborations.
Cultural Exploration
Cultural engagements allowed participants to explore Russia’s heritage and modern developments, including visits to significant locations such as the Kremlin, historical areas of Nizhny Novgorod, Boldino (the hometown of poet Alexander Pushkin), the UNESCO-listed Kremlin in Kazan, the tech hub of Innopolis, and Saransk, recognized for its architectural diversity.
