INTI International University Inaugurates New Chancellor and Hosts July 2025 Convocation Ceremony

In July 2025, INTI International University officially inaugurated its new Chancellor, Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Dato’ Seri Utama Naquiyuddin ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar. The inauguration event occurred during the university’s Convocation Ceremony held at the Tan Yew Sing Multi-Purpose Hall in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.

Inauguration Ceremony Highlights

The ceremony attracted a variety of stakeholders, including leaders from the higher education sector, members of INTI’s Board of Governors, faculty and staff, industry representatives, and family members of the graduates. This gathering emphasized the university’s development and its commitment to core values such as service and academic excellence.

Tunku Naquiyuddin’s Background

Tunku Naquiyuddin, who holds the title of Tunku Laxamana of Negeri Sembilan, possesses extensive experience in public service, diplomacy, and philanthropy. He earned a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Economics from the University College of Wales in Aberystwyth and began his career in the Malaysian diplomatic service, which included positions at the Malaysian Embassy in France. His previous roles include serving as the Regent of Negeri Sembilan from 1994 to 1999 and holding various leadership positions in multiple sectors.

Inaugural Address

In his inaugural address, Tunku Naquiyuddin highlighted the transformative potential of education. He noted, “Education has always been close to my heart, not only for the way it expands minds but also for the way it transforms lives. Through global partnerships and genuine care for its students, INTI is shaping graduates prepared to improve the world.”

New Pro-Chancellors Introduced

During the event, Tunku Naquiyuddin announced the appointment of two new Pro-Chancellors: YBhg. Emeritus Professor Dato’ Ir. Dr. Mohamad Zawawi Ismail and YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Chua Hock Hoo. Professor Zawawi, a long-standing member of INTI’s Board of Directors, has notable expertise in the Malaysian higher education sector, while Dr. Chua is recognized for promoting the integration of academic learning with industry practices.

Distinguished Attendees

Among the distinguished attendees were YBhg. Dato’ Professor Dr. Azlinda Azman, Director-General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Emeritus Professor Dr. Lim Ho Peng, and Professor Dr. Joseph Lee, Vice-Chancellor of INTI.

Convocation Ceremony

Following the inauguration, the July 2025 Convocation Ceremony proceeded, during which degrees were conferred upon graduates along with industry-sponsored awards that recognized outstanding academic performance.

Message to Graduates

In his speech to the graduating class, Tunku Naquiyuddin encouraged the Class of 2025 to assume their roles as active contributors to society.
