Xi’an Jiaotong University Engages in Technology Exchange with Croatia

Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) took part in a technology exchange initiative between China and Croatia from May 21 to 23, 2025. The delegation was headed by Yin Hejun, China’s Minister of Science and Technology, following an invitation from Radovan Fuchs, Croatia’s Minister of Science, Education, and Youth.
XI’an Jiaotong University’s Representation
Bie Zhaohong, the executive vice-president of XJTU, represented the university during the 11th Meeting of the China-Croatia Intergovernmental Science and Technology Cooperation Committee and a forum focused on collaborative projects. The meeting, co-chaired by Yin and Fuchs, emphasized the significance of strengthening cooperation in personnel exchanges and joint research and development efforts to enhance bilateral relations.
Visit to the University of Zagreb
On May 22, the delegation visited the University of Zagreb, where Vice-President Jurica Pavičić welcomed the XJTU representatives. Pavičić provided an overview of the university’s historical importance and its vision for innovative development, expressing interest in further academic collaboration.
Integration of Education and Industry
Bie Zhaohong outlined XJTU’s initiatives aimed at integrating education with industry, specifically referencing the university’s commitment to educational improvement linked to the Belt and Road Initiative, including the Silk Road University Alliance. Discussions were conducted regarding the enhancement of summer academic workshops, the establishment of a mechanism for two-way student mobility, and the expansion of research collaborations within existing frameworks.
Inaugural Overseas Recruitment Event
On May 23, the delegation also organized XJTU’s inaugural overseas recruitment event, which focused on English-taught programs, emphasizing disciplines such as interdisciplinary medical engineering studies.
