Jesselton University College Participates in “Sentuhan Kesuma Di Bawah Bayu” Under National Training Week 2025

Pulau Gaya, Sabah, 2 June 2025 – In conjunction with National Training Week (NTW) 2025, the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia, through its agency HRD Corp, successfully organised “Sentuhan Kesuma Di Bawah Bayu”, a community-focused training programme held in Pulau Gaya, Sabah.
The initiative aimed to expand access to lifelong learning and upskilling opportunities for rural and island communities, in line with the national objective to create an inclusive, future-ready workforce. The event marked a significant step forward in bridging educational gaps and promoting human capital development in remote areas of Malaysia.
Throughout the programme, participants benefited from a variety of hands-on and practical learning sessions, including:
1. Creative Floristry Course – which introduced participants to floral design skills and entrepreneurship in the creative economy,
- Motivational Talks – designed to inspire personal growth, confidence, and a positive mindset among youth and community members,
- TikTok Marketing Course – a practical digital skills training to help locals harness social media for personal branding and business promotion.
The programme is a key component of National Training Week (NTW), a nationwide movement launched by the Ministry of Human Resources to democratise training access and encourage Malaysians from all walks of life to participate in skill enhancement.
Beyond immediate learning outcomes, “Sentuhan Kesuma Di Bawah Bayu” also advances Malaysia’s commitments under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as SDG 1, SDG 4, SDG 8, and SDG 17.
The event received an overwhelmingly positive response from participants, many of whom expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage in practical training without having to travel to the mainland. For many, this was their first exposure to structured courses in creative and digital industries.
