UniKL MESTECH and MA Board Collaborate on Professional Development Programs for Medical Assistants

The Universiti Kuala Lumpur Institute of Medical Science Technology (UniKL MESTECH) is collaborating with the Medical Assistant (MA) Board of the Ministry of Health (MoH) to enhance the academic and professional development of medical assistants. This partnership was initiated following an engagement session held on March 26, 2025.

Post-Basic Medical Assisting Programs

In line with this collaboration, UniKL MESTECH intends to launch two post-basic medical assisting programs: one focusing on Nephrology Care and the other on Emergency Care. During the discussions, the MA Board provided guidance on the development of curricula, required facilities, trainer qualifications, and the current demands within the nephrology and emergency care sectors.

Curriculum Development

The establishment of a robust curriculum to meet industry standards was emphasized, with the goal of equipping medical assistants with essential competencies necessary for these critical areas of healthcare.

Industry Requirements

Both organizations are dedicated to identifying present and future industry requirements to ensure that graduates from these programs are well-prepared for employment and capable of addressing the increasing demands of the healthcare sector.

Collaboration Meeting

The session included representatives from both UniKL MESTECH and the MA Board, such as Ts. Dr. Mohamed Zul Fadhli Khairuddin, Dean and Head of Campus, alongside several specialists from UniKL. The MA Board was represented by key officials, including En. Zulhelmi Abdullah, Chief Assistant Medical Officer of Malaysia, together with a team of relevant specialists.

Commitment to Ongoing Collaboration

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to ongoing collaboration, with a focus on future academic developments, training opportunities, and strategic partnerships aimed at enhancing the medical assistant profession.
