UNAIR Delegation Secures Silver Medal at 24th Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2025

A delegation from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) received a silver medal at the 24th Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2025 held from February 20 to 22, 2025, at the World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This recognition was awarded in the Healthcare, Personal Care Technology, Biotechnology, and Life Sciences category.
Innovative Product: PEPHYDTIN-DERM
The accolade was attributed to their innovative product, PEPHYDTIN-DERM, which targets dermatophytosis, a prevalent fungal skin infection. The team responsible for the development included master’s and bachelor’s students in Nursing, Asroful Hulam Zamroni, Sandrina Indah Paraswati, Annita Istifadhah, and Faiz Wildan Anshory, along with undergraduate students Chessa Failazhufa Waludri and Nida Elsa’adah Mazaya Yusron from the Bachelor’s program in Pharmacy.
Insights from the Team
In remarks made on February 27, team member Sandrina Indah Paraswati described the creation of PEPHYDTIN-DERM, highlighting its formulation derived from Peperomia pellucida, a plant noted for its antifungal characteristics. The team identified a pressing need for more effective and user-friendly treatments for dermatophytosis.
The Journey to Achievement
The journey to this achievement involved a rigorous process, including proposal submissions, procurement of raw materials, and extensive product development and preclinical testing. Paraswati noted, “Independent research was conducted, and the product’s efficacy was meticulously tested prior to its presentation in Malaysia.”
