IPB University Hosts SUIJI-SLP Orientation Briefing for 2025 Participants

IPB University recently hosted an orientation briefing for the 2025 participants of the Six University Initiative Japan Indonesia – Service Learning Program (SUIJI-SLP). The event was organized by the Directorate of International Education in collaboration with the Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development and took place on February 20, 2025, in the Academic Senate Conference Room at the IPB Dramaga Campus.
About the SUIJI-SLP
The SUIJI-SLP is a collaborative program involving six universities from Japan and Indonesia: Ehime University, Kagawa University, Kochi University, IPB University, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), and Hasanuddin University. The focus of this year’s program is on sustainable agromaritime community development, which aims to enhance social resilience through the contributions of participating students.
Program Details
Puji Mudiana, the Director of International Education, indicated that the program will run until March 5, 2025, and will take place in three locations: Sukajadi Village, Pasir Eurih Village in Taman Sari District, and Benteng Village in Ciampea District.
Hands-On Experience
Participants will collaborate with local communities during fieldwork, allowing them to gain practical experience and cultural insights. They are also anticipated to develop skills related to utilizing and enhancing local resources.
Increased Participation
This year, there was a notable increase in interest, with 300 students from IPB University applying for the SUIJI-SLP program, compared to the previous year. A total of 36 students from IPB University will participate in the 2025 program, joined by nine students from various Japanese universities, including Ehime, Kagawa, and Kochi.
