IHFC Partners with Top 10 Indian Institutions to Establish Innovative Co-Innovation Centres in Deep Tech, AI, and Robotics

The I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has launched a collaborative initiative with ten leading institutions in India to create Co-Innovation Centres (CiCs) that will focus on deep technology, artificial intelligence, and robotics. This initiative aims to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and technological progress among young individuals in India.

Inaugural Co-Innovation Centre

The inaugural CiC was opened on January 24, 2025, in partnership with PES University in Bengaluru. Plans are underway to establish additional CiCs at other respected institutions, including the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) Shibpur, Thapar Institute, SRM University of Science and Technology, and IIT Gandhinagar. This initiative intends to encompass a wide range of geographical and academic settings.

Future Partnerships

Future partnerships are anticipated with other institutions such as Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences in Coimbatore, Crescent Innovation Incubation Council in Tamil Nadu, Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology in Bangalore, Delhi Technological University, and Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology in Delhi.

Goals of the Co-Innovation Centres

The overarching goal of the Co-Innovation Centres is to enhance research capabilities and technological development among aspiring innovators and entrepreneurs in India. Through specialized skill development, the initiative seeks to encourage creative problem-solving and address the current demands of the market. Additionally, the centres will focus on creating indigenous deep-tech solutions, supporting the Indian government’s vision of fostering a self-reliant economy.

Statements from IIT Delhi Officials

Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi, noted that the establishment of these innovation hubs will facilitate collaboration in fields such as robotics and innovation across the nation. Prof. S.K. Saha, Project Director at IHFC, emphasized the necessity of providing a platform for youth to innovate and develop ideas, thereby significantly contributing to India’s technology sector and job creation efforts.

Foundation Collaboration

The I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC) was formed in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India, as part of the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems. It aims to integrate academia, government, and industry to bolster research and development, support startup creation, provide skills training, and facilitate international partnerships.
