NUS Graduates Ranked 9th as Most Employable by Global Companies
The National University of Singapore (NUS) has been ranked as the ninth most employable university in the world, according to the Global Employability University Ranking and Survey (GEURS) 2025. This ranking was conducted by the French consultancy Emerging and published by Times Higher Education, which assesses the employability of graduates from 250 institutions based on insights from global employers.
Consistent Top Rankings in Employability
Since 2020, NUS has maintained a position within the top 10 universities for employability, currently holding the second rank in Asia, following The University of Tokyo, which is ranked eighth. The top three universities overall in the 2025 rankings are the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, California Institute of Technology, and Stanford University.
Fostering Skills for Future Employment
Professor Aaron Thean, Deputy President (Academic Affairs) and Provost of NUS, noted that the university’s educational approach fosters curiosity, critical thinking, data-driven analysis, and a global perspective among students. He also highlighted the institution’s commitment to incorporating emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and data analytics, into its curriculum to better prepare students for future employment.
Factors Influencing High Employability Ranking
Sandrine Belloc, co-founder and managing director of Emerging, pointed out that NUS’s high employability ranking is attributed to its emphasis on developing graduate skills, nurturing a digital mindset, and maintaining strong academic performance. The survey collected insights from 13,240 employers across 33 countries, who hired approximately 1.3 million young graduates for roles in various sectors, including non-technical, business, IT, and engineering, during the period from 2024 to 2025.
Initiatives to Enhance Graduate Readiness
To further enhance the readiness of its graduates for the workforce, NUS has introduced several initiatives, including the NUSOne program, which aims to promote a holistic university experience. This program includes courses designed to cultivate essential skills in first-year students, structured afternoon activities for personal development, and the establishment of Valour House, a sports-themed hostel intended to foster community among students.
Resources for Career Development
Additionally, the NUS Centre for Future-ready Graduates provides resources and programs aimed at enhancing students’ career competencies, featuring overseas internships, career planning support, and access to a comprehensive job portal.
Survey Methodology
Data for the survey was collected between June and September 2024 and evaluated based on 35 criteria, identifying key factors that drive employability, including academic excellence, specialization, digital mindset, and leadership.
