Indonesia, Australia Launch Teacher Education Cooperation for Quality Learning
Australia and Indonesia launched the Indonesia-Australia Teacher Education Cooperation on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. This joint initiative is expected to enhance the quality of the teacher workforce in Indonesia.
This initiative brings together five Australian universities and ten Indonesian universities. Members from Australia are Western Sydney University, Deakin University, Central Queensland University, the University of Adelaide, and the University of Newcastle.
Meanwhile, members from Indonesia are Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Malang, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Universitas Negeri Padang, Universitas Sanata Dharma, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Negeri Medan, and Universitas Negeri Manado.
The universities will work together on a range of education and research activities, and ensure Indonesian universities have the capabilities they need to train the next generation of high-quality teachers.
“I want to congratulate the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology on spearheading this initiative,” said Professor Jennifer Westacott AO, Australia’s Business Champion for Indonesia.
“This Cooperation will support Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to ensure teachers are well-equipped to step into the classroom with confidence,” she said.
