MMU Clinches Victory at Piala YDP MP Sepang 2025 Open Innovation Competition

Multimedia University (MMU) achieved recognition at the Piala YDP MP Sepang 2025 Open Innovation Competition held on September 10, 2025, when its Project SHARIN was awarded the championship title. This project, characterized as an immersive gamified Virtual Reality eMarketplace, was spearheaded by Mr. Vincent Chan from the Faculty of Business. As part of the competition’s accolades, Project SHARIN received the Challenge Trophy, Champion Trophy, and a monetary award of RM1,000 presented by Dr. Ani Ahmad, President of MP Sepang.

Event Overview

The event, organized by the Sepang Municipal Council (MPS), featured a range of submissions from various participants. Among them, three projects from MMU were shortlisted. In addition to Project SHARIN, other notable entries included Project Green Tato, which was developed by Sylvia Cheong Kim Ying, Tay Yi Shian, and Ong Li Ying, focusing on eco-friendly takeaway boxes made from potato starch.

Other Notable Entries

Another entry, Project Finnest, a gamified financial literacy application, was created by Suaina Tan Su Ying Bt. Akid Arman Tan from the Faculty of Management in collaboration with Nurr Amanii Tan Jia Qi Bt. Akid Arman Tan from Politeknik.

Achievements and Recognition

Furthermore, MMU’s Project Finnest achieved fourth place in the competition, reinforcing the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and multidisciplinary collaboration, supported by the Technology Transfer Office (TTO).
