AppliedHE Launches in Pakistan

It was with much excitement, curiosity and festivity that the AppliedHE Launch Xchange Pakistan took place on 18 Feb 2020 at the Defense Road Campus of the University of Lahore in Lahore, Pakistan.

The program provided senior higher education leaders in Pakistan with an introduction to the AppliedHE JOB-Ready Rating System, AppliedHE global marketing and branding strategies and international best practices in employment focused higher education from Indonesia and Germany. The event consisted of speeches, presentations, a panel discussion with audience Q&A as well as a social program with tea break and lunch.

International Speakers included AppliedHE™ Founder & CEO Ms Mandy Mok and AppliedHE™ Chief Analyst Mr Pieter Stek, Indonesia’s State University of Yogyakarta Faculty of Engineering Dean Prof Herman Surjono and Germany’s University of Applied Sciences Europe (UE) Rector Prof Maurits van Rooijen.

The event was also graced by estimeed speakers from Lahore, including University of Lahore Chairman Board of Governors Prof Muhammad Awais Raoof Kamboh, University of Lahore Rector Prof Mujahid Kamran and University of Lahore Faculty of Allied Health Sciences Dean Prof Syed Amir Gilani. Prof Gilani also accepted his official appointment as AppliedHE™ Country Director: Pakistan.

The event had several significance for some of the speakers. Mandy Mok, CEO & Founder of AppliedHE™ remarked: “The University of Lahore is a leading institution in Pakistan, especially when it comes to international marketing, branding and benchmarking. My personal friendship with the University of Lahore and its senior management go back more than 10 years from my days as CEO of QS Asia so it’s very meaningful to launch our new AppliedHE™ JOB-Ready™ Rating here. ” She added: “Pakistan is a key market for AppliedHE™. Our Rating is perfectly suited for the needs of Pakistan’s higher education system and I am confident that many institutions here will take the lead globally in becoming AppliedHE™ rated.”

Prof Gilani noted: “Mandy Mok is a great friend of Pakistan, having worked hard to improve international perceptions of its higher education system,” adding: “She almost single-handedly built the QS brand in Asia for 17 years and I am confident she will do the same with AppliedHE™.”
