KKU Hosts Lao PDR Education Delegation for Knowledge Sharing on Public Policy, Education, and Sustainable Development

On July 14, 2025, Khon Kaen University (KKU) hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). The delegation was led by Mr. Sithong Sikhao, Acting Director General of the Planning Department, and participated in discussions centered on public policy, education, and innovation. The meetings took place in the Sirikunakorn Room at KKU.

Objective of the Visit

The objective of the visit was to enhance the Executive Training Program for senior officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports in Lao PDR, focusing on the exchange of knowledge regarding strategic planning and innovation in educational practices. This collaborative effort was co-hosted by the College of Local Administration and the Faculty of Education, aiming to support sustainable development and effective educational strategies for both countries.

Significance of the Meeting

The assembly represented an important milestone in fostering educational collaboration within the Mekong subregion, aiming to bolster the capabilities of executive personnel in order to promote sustainable development initiatives across Laos and Thailand.

Welcoming Remarks

During the discussions, Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of KKU, welcomed the delegation and reiterated the university’s commitment to strengthening ties with educational institutions in Lao PDR. He noted the shared goal of enhancing the capacity of educational professionals for mutual benefits. In his remarks, Mr. Sithong Sikhao underscored the significance of learning from KKU’s practices to enhance the educational system in Lao PDR.

Educational Institution Visits

The delegation also included plans to visit various educational institutions such as the KKU Demonstration School, Phayathai School, and PTT Model School, allowing them to observe and gain insights into operational practices within the educational sector. This exchange of knowledge is intended to reinforce educational frameworks and policies in both nations.
