Bridging Theory and Practice in Water Resource Engineering at the Institute of Technology Cambodia

On January 8, 2026, a cohort of 52 students from the Faculty of Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) undertook a study visit to the Bakheng Water Treatment Plant and the K&K Pipe Cambodia factory. Participants included fifth-year students in the Water and Environmental Engineering program, along with second-year students enrolled in the associate degree program in Water Supply and Sanitation.
Objectives of the Visit
The objectives of the visit were to offer students practical insights into water treatment processes and pipe manufacturing technologies. By engaging with these real-world applications, the students aimed to enhance their theoretical understanding acquired during their studies.
Recognition of Support
Faculty and administration representatives at ITC recognized the contributions of the Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority (PPWSA) and K&K Pipe Cambodia for their support and hospitality during the educational visit.
Activities and Learning Experiences
The event included various activities that provided students with opportunities to closely observe the procedures involved in water treatment and pipe manufacturing—both crucial sectors for Cambodia’s infrastructure development. This initiative reflects ITC’s commitment to integrating theoretical and practical components within engineering education.
