UCSI University recently hosted the Prominent Professorial Lecture Series, showcasing its focus on scholarship and thought leadership within the higher education sector. The series features discussions on topics of global relevance, presented by distinguished speakers who share their expertise and experiences.

During a recent lecture, Senior Professor Dr. P’ng Tean Hwa, recognized for his contributions to music education, outlined his teaching philosophy. He emphasized the importance of viewing the educational journey as one toward excellence rather than perfection, promoting the idea that “practice makes permanent, not perfect.” Dr. P’ng’s transition from engineering to music underlines his conviction that dedication to a chosen career can shape a fulfilling identity as an educator. Under his leadership, the UCSI Institute of Music gained notable recognition, ranking 32nd in the QS World University Rankings by Subject for Performing Arts in 2025.

In another session, Academician Professor Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim addressed the concept of lifelong learning through writing and research. He noted that while one may aim for perfection in writing, it is essential to understand that the outcome is unlikely to be flawless. He characterized the writing process as an ongoing educational journey.
