Walailak University Partners with ITP Markandeya Bali to Enhance Research and Teaching Collaboration

Walailak University has established a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Institut Teknologi dan Pendidikan Markandeya Bali (ITP Markandeya Bali) to promote collaboration in research and teaching. The signing ceremony took place on July 14, 2025, in the Mokhalan Meeting Room at the Professor Dr. Wichit Srisa-an Building.

Delegation Reception

The delegation from ITP Markandeya Bali was received by Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, along with other senior officials from the university. The delegation was led by Associate Professor Dr. I Wayan Numertayasa, Rector of ITP Markandeya Bali.

Emphasis on Academic Partnership

During the ceremony, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong emphasized that the MoU represents a proactive academic partnership based on shared values and a commitment to educational quality and sustainable development.

Agreement Highlights

The agreement outlines opportunities for student and staff mobility, joint research initiatives, co-hosting of conferences, and collaborative programs. It focuses on key areas such as nursing, health sciences, technology, and community-based education—fields in which both institutions have established competencies.

Importance of International Partnerships

Professor Sombat also highlighted the importance of international partnerships in enhancing expertise and advancing research initiatives. Walailak University is recognized for its research output, which includes the highest percentage of publications in Quartile 1 journals in Thailand. As of June 30, 2025, 82.3% of Walailak University’s Scopus-indexed publications are featured in Q1 journals, indicating a leading position nationally.

Rector’s Perspective

Rector I Wayan Numertayasa expressed gratitude for the welcoming reception and indicated that the MoU goes beyond a formal agreement. He noted that it reflects a genuine commitment to enhancing educational collaboration, research, and community engagement. He expressed optimism that the partnership would develop and provide substantive benefits for both institutions and their respective student bodies.

Duration and Benefits of the MoU

The MoU is set for a duration of five years and aims to support research and teaching efforts while facilitating internships that offer students from both institutions valuable international professional experiences, thereby enhancing their career readiness.
