InternEdge: Bridging Academic Preparation with Career Readiness

In its continuous commitment to enhancing student development, the Academic Affairs Department of the Sunway University Student Council (SUSC) proudly hosted InternEdge—a career-centric workshop tailored to meet the growing academic and professional needs of Sunway’s student community. The workshop focused on equipping students with essential tools for resume writing and maximising LinkedIn profiles, both critical in preparing for successful internships and job applications.

Leading the session was Ms Joselyn Lau, Vice President of People & Culture at Hiredly Malaysia. With over a decade of experience in the talent acquisition industry, Ms Lau shared invaluable insights and real-world strategies to help students navigate their early career journeys. Her session was both engaging and deeply informative, addressing common pitfalls and practical tips on how students can stand out in today’s competitive job market.

The overwhelming response to InternEdge underscored the urgency and relevance of the topic. Drawing a remarkable crowd of 134 students from both Sunway College and Sunway University, the event filled the hall to capacity—highlighting strong student interest in career preparation. The diversity of attendees from various programmes reflected the wide-reaching impact of the initiative and the Academic Department’s dedication to ensuring all students receive timely, actionable support.

Praised for its interactive format and actionable takeaways, InternEdge proved to be a significant milestone in the SUSC Term 2024/2025 calendar. Students walked away with clearer strategies, upgraded LinkedIn profiles, and sharper resumes—all crucial for a confident entry into the professional world. As one student shared:

“Really loved how the workshop was conducted. Ms Jocelyn was engaging and presented her slides well, leaving me with more knowledge than before.”

InternEdge stands as a testament to SUSC’s mission of bridging the academic and professional worlds for students, transforming their education into meaningful, real-world opportunities. With such positive feedback and strong engagement, the Academic Department looks forward to more impactful initiatives that continue supporting students’ journeys beyond the classroom.
