MAPEK 2024: Engaging First-Year Students at Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail to Foster Involvement

The Student Residential College Committee (JKM) organized the Majlis Pengenalan Kelab Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail 2024 (MAPEK ’24) at Dewan Sri Resak, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on October 20. This event was designed to introduce first-year students for the 2024/2025 academic session to the various clubs and associations available at Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail (KTDI) and to highlight the importance of participation in co-curricular activities.

The initiative aimed to familiarize new students with KTDI’s diverse offerings, encourage engagement in activities that foster soft skills development, and promote awareness of the opportunities available through KTDI’s events and programs.

Opening Remarks

ChM. Dr. Mohd Akmali Mokhter, the Principal of KTDI, officiated the gathering and emphasized the importance of co-curricular activities for personal development and community integration. Former JKM President PK Nur Adib Fahim Norhamizan also addressed attendees, sharing motivational insights from his own experiences and urging students to fully engage in their university experience.

Student Inspiration

First-year student Aliyah Hassan expressed being inspired by the speeches and highlighted her eagerness to explore personal growth opportunities beyond academics.

JKM Committee Introduction

The program included the formal introduction of the 2024/2025 JKM committee, featuring an oath-taking ceremony for newly appointed members and a certificate presentation to acknowledge the outgoing committee’s contributions.

Cultural Performances

Cultural performances were integral to the event, showcasing traditional music from the Gamelan Club and martial arts demonstrations by the Taekwondo Club and Pencak Silat UTM, which illustrated discipline and teamwork.

Inspirational Objectives

Muhammad Daniel Imran Matharuzaman, President of JKM KTDI, commented on the event’s objective to inspire students to pursue growth opportunities and effectively manage their time, affirming the belief that engagement in such activities is essential for personal development.
