KAUST Professors Elected as AAAS Fellows in Recognition of Scientific Contributions

Two faculty members from KAUST have been elected 2025 Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), highlighting the University’s impact across diverse scientific fields.
Professor Ahmed Eltawil was recognized for his distinguished contributions to wireless communications and low-power system design, advancing AI-native networks for health, mobility, and infrastructure applications. Professor Michael Berumen was honored for his contributions to marine ecology, particularly in understanding larval dispersal, species movement, and biodiversity patterns in coral reef ecosystems, with a focus on the Red Sea.
The AAAS, one of the world’s largest multidisciplinary scientific societies and publisher of the Science family of journals, elects Fellows annually to recognize scientifically or socially distinguished contributions to science and engineering.
At KAUST, these achievements reinforce the University’s global stature and support national R&D ambitions aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, attracting top talent and fostering innovation in science, technology, and engineering.
